The sounds of the Itria Valley
28 novembre 2015

goNet produced the reportage “The Sounds of the Itria Valley” by Nevio Casadio, a documentary filmmaker already well known on Rai.
The docufilm, broadcast on Rai1 during the TG1 Special, tells the story of a journey through the Puglia of music, folk songs and traditional dances, focusing on the hidden cultural reality of the Itria Valley.
The Itria Valley is made up of the towns of Martina Franca, Locorotondo and Cisternino, located across three different provinces (Taranto, Brindisi and Bari). Here, tradition carries with it art, music and dance. In these communities, young and old play together in local bands to pass down heritage to future generations.
This wonderful land is home to the Festival della Valle d’Itria, a central event of Apulian folk art from which artists like Renzo Rubino emerged, singer-songwriter and winner of the Critics’ Award at the “Mia Martini” Italian Song Festival in 2013.
The documentary continues by showing the magnificent landscapes of the valley, the traditional crafts that are still practiced, and the passion of the people who inhabit this art-rich territory.
