PA Russi, the website of the ODV association
6 march 2025
A website at the service of those who serve the community

The Pubblica Assistenza O.D.V. Città di Russi has been active since 1983, founded by a group of citizens who committed to buying a first ambulance. Over forty years later, it offers 118 emergency services, medical taxi, assistance at sporting events and a wide range of projects aimed at the community: BLSD courses for citizens, teachers and sports representatives, first aid in schools, installations of defibrillators in public spaces (over 30 installed in the municipality's territory), and participation in inclusion projects for people with disabilities. It is a member of ANPAS, the National Association of Public Assistance organisations. The site addresses three audiences with different needs at the same time: the citizens looking for information on the services, the potential volunteers who are considering joining the association, and the institutions with which the PA collaborates daily. Three recipients that the site must know how to serve with the same clarity, without communicative hierarchies that penalise one in favour of the others.

The platform is WordPress, chosen for maximum management accessibility in a volunteering context with limited resources. The dependence on an external agency for every update is a cost that is reflected directly on the institutional activities: WordPress allows the PA team to publish documents, update services and manage content in total autonomy, guaranteeing that the site always remains a faithful mirror of the association's reality without additional burdens.

The design is institutional and accessible, built for simple use by all citizens regardless of age and digital experience. It is not a secondary detail: a public assistance organisation addresses a heterogeneous population that includes elderly people or those not very accustomed to digital tools, and a site that is complicated to navigate for this group fails one of its main objectives. The visual hierarchy guides the eye toward the most important information without requiring interpretive effort, with texts calibrated to be comprehensible by anyone.

The telephone number is highlighted on every page: in many contexts in which one consults the site of a public assistance organisation one is in a hurry, looking for a quick contact, and having to navigate among several pages to find it is an obstacle that should never exist. The structure reflects the articulation of the association, with sections dedicated to the services, the internal organisation, the associative documents and the projects in the area, offering a complete and transparent overview of everything the PA of Russi does for the community.

The publication of associative documents, minutes and codes of ethics is structured in dedicated and easily accessible sections, responding to the transparency requirements that the ODVs of the third sector are required to respect. The ANPAS affiliation is highlighted to strengthen the institutional credibility and communicate the belonging to a national network that counts over 800 associations. The result is a digital tool that strengthens the bond with the local community, supports the recruitment of new volunteers and guarantees that transparency which is the foundation of trust between a volunteering association and the territory it serves.
